Term 6

Week 7

In English this week we have been making up our own silly stories. The children have been rolling dice to choose characters, places and events and the results have really made us laugh. We love being authors in Dormouse class.

In Maths we have been working hard to secure our knowledge in number bonds to 10. The children have been playing games, writing them down and challenging each other.

We were so glad you could join us for the family picnic and sports day.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Week 6

What an incredibly busy week!

In English we have been writing sentences to describe different beach scenes. The children have been working independently to achieve this.

In Maths we have been focusing on number bonds to 10. The children have used 10 frames and part whole models to support their understanding and fluency in this area.

We had an Early Years sports day with our friends from Pandemonium preschool. The weather held of just long enough for us to complete all the events. Thank you to our Year 6 helpers.

We have also been to Cadbury Heath library to see the author and illustrator Robert Starling. He shared his stories, brought the characters to life with puppets and helped us to create our own version of the Super Sloth.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Week 4

In English this week we have been the most incredible authors. We made changes to the pirate story we have been learning and then wrote the story in our books. The children used some descriptive language like "diamond sword" and have amazing ideas such as a tsunami spoiling the pirates plans!

In Maths we have been looking at sequencing events in time. The children had to use clues they could see in pictures to put the events in order. They also found it highly amusing that somebody could brush their teeth after lunch!

We also went on a walk around the local area. We followed a map and marked off points of interest along the way. Thank you to our parent helpers who make these activities possible.

Have a wonderful weekend.

In Maths we have been looking at capacity. The children have been using the vocabulary "full, empty, half full, nearly full, nearly empty" they had an amazing time showing how much they knew in our new sand pit!

It was fantastic to have so many of our families join us for arts week activities. We hope you enjoyed the challenges and sharing in our learning.
