Term 2

Monday 30th October - Friday 3rd November

Badger class have hot off to a great start this term and getting stuck into a range of lessons.

In English, we have been exploring our new book 'The secreat of Black Rock'. Our lessons have involved doing lots of sequencing, character mapping, oral retelling and hot seating. In maths we are focussing on mastering our 3 times tables so if you can help your child practise these that would be fantastic!

In DT this week we have finished our Roman unit by desugning, making and constructing our own Roman catapults. When designing our catapults, our focus was on levers and how we could make an arm that propels something through the air. We worked so hard on these designs and gave each other useful feedback when evaluating their effectiveness. They were also really fun to test!

Another great week and so lovely to see you all again after half term :)

Monday 6th November - Friday 10th November

I am so impressed with the change in behaviour in Badger class! Even though we still have some work to do I am so pleased and proud of the changes I am seeing from being more respectful and safer individuals to being more focussed in learning.

In our English lessons this week we have done a lot of work on adjectives and how to then use them in expanded noun phrases. In maths we have been continuing with our power maths lessons and focussing on the 4 times table.

This week our year 3 children were lucky to be involved in a planting workshop which our year 4's will enjoy in another session coming up. We also as a class painted pebbles towards the remembrance memorial. Our designs were amazing!!

In our art lessons we have been learning about Georges Seurat and his technique of pointillism. We tried to create shapes using the dotting method and they looked amazing. In PE we have been focussing on balance and coordination and as you can see from the pictures, we had our best PE lesson to date!!

We also have a new and improved classroom with a fab new book corner where the class can give each other book recommendations.

Well done Badger class on such a successful week, I am so proud of each and every one of you. Here's to an amazing week 3.

Week 6: Making Gas Masks

In Badger Class we have been busy turning our everyday milk cartons into a DT project (gas masks).

We have learnt all about how and why gas masks were used and who by in our history lessons. This was smelly and sticky work but we have loved it! We also practiced a blackout process by hiding under the tables in the classroom and tuning off all the lights.

Christmas week!!!

It is safe to say that Christmas week has been a busy one at CHPS. Badger Class have been hard at work practicing and performing their carol concert, keeping an eye on Buddy the Elf and his mischievous ways as well as having a fabulous class party and more!

On the last day of term we made Christmas cards, made a conga line, read our amazing reports abut Black Rock to Owl class, had a dance-a-thon, pin the nose on Rudolph, snowmen toilet rolls and more! We had a jam-packed day, topped off with some party food and songs.

We hope all our Badger Class families enjoy the festive season.
