What a busy week!

The children have been fantastic this week. We learnt about the Christmas story and that is important for Christians. We have been busy wrapping, writing Christmas cards and making gifts.

The children were incredible in the nativity "Whoops a daisy Angel" we hope you enjoyed it.

Have a fantastic Christmas holiday and Happy New Year.

Week 6

In Dormouse Class this week we have been using the book "Dear Father Christmas" to help us with our learning. We have written a letter to Santa and hope he replies soon! The children have been having a go doing this independently as well.

In Maths we have been continuing our learning on addition within 5 using manipulatives such as 5 frames, multilink cubes and counters.

We have been busily rehearsing for our nativity show with Hedgehog and Owl class. We hope you can join us next week to see us.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Week 5

This week we have been thinking about families and how they are all different. We shared our family photos with each other and some funny stories to go with them.

The children also sequenced pictures of themselves in to age order talking about when they were babies, toddlers and how they are different now. It has been wonderful hearing the children talk so passionately about their lives and the important people in them.

We have used the book "Titch" to help us with our English this week. We have been sequencing the story and making our own books too!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Mrs Bramwell

Week 4

This week we have been talking about ourselves. Sharing with our friends things we like to do or eat. We also compared our lives with other children across the world. We couldn't believe some people sleep in igloos! We also had a go at painting a self portrait in our sketch books. We made sure we looked in the mirror, painted the right shapes and picked the right colours.

In maths we worked on 1 less within 5. The children were amazing at making numbers and then finding 1 less. We used "first, then, now" stories to help us.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Week 3

We have had a wonderful week learning about the Hindu celebration of Diwali. We saw how families celebrate, heard the story of Rama and Sita and Mrs Singhal came to tell us how she celebrate with her family. She brought clothes and important pieces used in the celebrations. The children really enjoyed learning about this.

In Maths we have been working on 1 more. The children have been using 5 frames to help them work out solutions to first then, now stories.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Week 2

This week we have been extremely creative! We shared our experiences from Bonfire night and created glittery pictures and used chalk. We learned about Remembrance and why we have poppies. The children painted their pebbles which were used to create the whole school Remembrance art piece.

In Maths we have been learning about 2D shapes and their properties. The children have been brilliant at identifying shapes and describing them.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Week 1

What a fantastic first week back! In English we have used the book "Where in the Witch's Kitchen?" to support our learning. We had a spooktastic day on Tuesday including pumpkins, potions and hidden bugs!

In Maths we have been learning about 3D shapes. The children have been investigating which shapes can roll and which can't and discussing why that might be.

Have a wonderful weekend.
