Home learning

Reading

As part of our phonics the children will take part in reading sessions three times per week. They will then bring the book home. We expect the children to read fluently by the time they bring it home.

They will also bring home a library book which is for pleasure - they are not expected to read it independently. 

We would like the children to read 5 times per week. Please record all reading in the reading records. 

Reading books are changed every Thursday. New books will not be issued until the previous one has been returned.

Maths

You will have a individual log in for an online platform called "Numbots" which supports the development of number recognition, subitising and counting. We would like the children to access this as often as possible. Certificates are issued for various achievements.

Spellings 

You will have spellings sent home on a Friday that review the sounds and tricky words we have been learning during the week in our phonics sessions. These are to practise at home so that your children become confident reading the sounds.
