We are into February! 

A new month and a new unit for us in Hedgehog class. We have started learning about the history of toys. We spoke about our favourite toys and what we can remember playing with when we were younger. 

Please talk to your children at home about your favourite toy. We'd love to see a picture (if you still have it). You can send pictures to the school email address to be forwarded to Hedgehog class.

This week we built our Arctic boxes. We worked so well with each other and were sharing materials beautifully. We are very proud of our creations. 

In English, we are planning to write a non-fiction report about polar bears. We have been practising sentence skills to include these in our writing next week. We learnt that polar bears actually have black skin and that their fur is translucent!

Our week started with a fencing workshop (foam swords, don't panic!) and ended with a ninja workshop!! What a great movement break for us all and as you can see we had some very skilled ninjas in Hedgehog class! 

We started our new book: leaf. Ask us about the story of the polar bear and how he came to be in the forest! 

In the afternoons we have been planning our Arctic shoe boxes and we are excited to make them on Monday. If you have any Arctic-looking materials at home please send them in (blue paper, cotton wool, foil etc).

What a short week! 

We have sprung back into action after our Christmas break and have been writing letters in our English sessions. We imagined we had been on an adventure in the Arctic circle and we were writing to tell our friends all about it. Our imaginations were soaring; from riding on the back of a penguin down a mountain to spending the night in an igloo. What a creative bunch you are!
