Term 4

Monday 11th March - Friday 15th March 2024

This week we have worked really hard to showcase all our our learning in completing our assessments.  We have published our letters to our pen pals in Hazel Class at Mangotsfield school and look forward to receiving ours!  In PE we practised lots of different skills in our multi-sports lesson.  It is nearly Easter, so we spent some time thinking about Lent and the story behind the Christian celebration.

Monday 4th - Friday 8th March

Another very busy week in Deer Class!  We had the second week of our Leaf Literature Festival and enjoyed an online assembly with 13 other schools where we listened to poetry read to us from a published poet.  We also had an online assembly with Ellie Jackson who is an author that writes stories about environmental issues. After reading her books, we learnt about the affects of these problems and thought about how we could help to reduce the risks to wildlife.

Monday 26th February - Friday 1st March 2024

What a busy week! It was the beginning of our Leaf Literacy reading festival and we have enjoyed thinking lots about books.  We went on a visit to the library and had a brilliant time listerning to stories as well as exploring interesting books. We finished our persuasive speeches on school litter and have now started to think about our narrative skills using a new book 'The Golden Cage'. Our maths learning has been fun as we have continued to practise our algebra skills. We recapped all of our knowledge on the heart and researched the achievements of Dr Daniel Hale Williams who was the first African-American to perform open heart surgery.

Monday 19th - Friday 23rd February 2024

it has been a brilliant first week back in Deer class. We sent a representative for each house to our annual pancake tossing assembly where Riley was victorious and earned Ash house 100 house points. Some of us were trained on how to be successful sports leaders and led multi-sports activities with the younger children in school.  Dean, the sports coach, said that we were excellent! As part of finishing our Healthy Hearts unit, we created detailed diagrams of the heart and its components as well as making model hearts using salt dough.
