Symptoms of Covid:

If a child shows 1 or more of the symptoms of Covid (Cough, Temperature, Loss of taste/smell) we would ask that you do not send them to school, but book a PCR test.

They must then self-isolate whilst you wait for the result.  If your child shows any of these symptoms in school, you will be asked to come and collect them and take them for a PCR test.

The rules around self-isolation have changed since 16th August.  You’re not required to self-isolate if you live in the same household as someone with COVID-19, or are a close contact of someone with COVID-19, and any of the following apply:

  • you’re fully vaccinated
  • you’re below the age of 18 years and 6 months
  • you’ve taken part in or are currently part of an approved COVID-19 vaccine trial
  • you’re not able to get vaccinated for medical reasons

So if someone in your household tests positive for Covid, as long as your child has no symptoms, they can still come to school.

NHS Test and Trace will contact you to let you know that you have been identified as a contact and check whether you are legally required to self-isolate. If you’re not legally required to self-isolate, you will be provided with advice on testing and given guidance on preventing the spread of COVID-19. Even if you do not have symptoms, you will be advised to get a PCR test as soon as possible.

We may revert to our previous risk assessment if advised to do so due to a rise in cases locally, or if the school has an outbreak of Covid. You will be advised in writing should this happen.

Our latest Risk Assessment and Contingency Plan should we have an outbreak can be found  here.
