We have tried to ensure that it has something for everyone, whether they are a prospective or current parent, a governor or one of our own pupils.

Our school has a great reputation for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere. This is something which is commented on by so many of our visitors and is one of the things on which we pride ourselves. Our pupils strive to be polite, articulate and hard working and truly embody our long standing school values to ‘Cherish, Endeavour, Learn and Work Together’. Our mission as a school is to ensure that:

Although the school dates back in the community to 1892, it has only been on its present site for less than two decades. It therefore combines the benefits of history and tradition with a modern, stimulating learning environment. We are fortunate too in that we have dedicated learning areas in addition to our classrooms, a well equipped hall for assemblies, drama, sport and excellent ICT (information communication technology) facilities throughout the school.

We are also lucky to have a superb outdoor learning environment with 3 playgrounds, our own school field and splendid views of the local countryside to the rear.

As a ‘Bike It’ school with Healthy Schools status we encourage our pupils to make healthy choices wherever possible by encouraging them to walk or cycle to school.

Our curriculum is both varied and fit for purpose, with the majority of our pupils either matching or exceeding national expectations for achievement in the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science. We are also able to offer specialist coaching/teaching during curriculum time for all pupils whilst teachers have their statutory planning preparation and assessment time. This currently includes group singing, outdoor PE and gymnastics.

In addition to this core provision we offer excellent opportunities for our pupils to grow and learn out of hours and run a variety of extended school opportunities which have included clubs such as tag rugby, porcelain painting, cycle training, yoga for children and soccer skills for younger pupils. In addition to this we offer additional instrument tuition on a fee paying basis during the normal school day. This currently covers violin, guitar and keyboards.

As a school we are dedicated to the learning and wellbeing of all our pupils. We therefore strive to ensure that we give pupils the opportunity to learn in a variety of learning styles matched to need. The school also has a strong reputation locally for our excellent reception induction program and for our achievements in sport and PE.

We have a vibrant and active parent body who fundraise for the benefit of the school through the PTA and a highly skilled and effective governing body who are committed to supporting the school both in the short and longer term.
